Fifty Years of Marriage - Ray & Jeanine

.
Recently, my sisters and I, along with all the grandchildren, celebrated Mom and Dad's fifty years of marriage. On April 23, 1959, Ray and Jeanine Van Leuven were married in the Salt Lake City Temple, providing their future posterity with the eternal blessings of the sacred covenants they made that day. Today, they are parents of four children and PROUD grandparents of seventeen grandchildren. We love and honor Mom and Dad and will forever be grateful for their legacy that will continue to bless our lives as each of us make our way through our own mortal journeys.

The River and the Tree
By Jerry Van Leuven

The quiet river
Constantly moves forward
Nurturing the smallest creation.
She gives life to all within her touch
Caressing the passing detail,
Refining the jagged edge.

The firm oak
Unhurried and steadfast
Forces a long, outward stretch.
Reaching from his center
With principle and purpose,
He protects and cools the river.

Their touch is concealed
In a hallowed heart
Where mysterious waters run deep
And roots are nourished.
Completing the tender cycle
That will never end.
